Advanced Merge Techniques: Vertex Editing - This video demonstartes how to use ArcMap 9.3.1 to remove spikes in your exported GPS file. This process can also be done in PathFinder Office

Advanced Merge Techniques: Cleaning Polygon Layer - This video demonstrates how to clean a polygon layer using ArcMap 9.3.1. Two extensions are required for this exercise:

XToolsPro and ET GeoWizards

The scenario being used is as follows: A thinning block, collected using a GPS unit and imported into ArcMap has already had one editing process performed on it: The removal of spikes.

This process will involve cleaning the block using ET GeoWizards and then identifying `bow-tie`polygons...another common GPS error. To help identify the polygons, XTools performs an area calculation on the block quickly identifying small polygons.

ET GeoWizard:Advanced Merge - Deducting area from overlapping polygons in ArcGIS 9.3.1 - This video demonstrates how to use one polygon layer to deduct area from another polygon layer using ArcMap 9.3.1. One extension is required for this exercise: ET GeoWizards

The scenario being used is as follows: A thinning block, and a deduction have been collected using a GPS unit and imported into ArcMap. The layers have been cleaned and now the deduction area will be removed from the thinning block.

ET GeoWizard:Advanced Merge - Adding new blocks to Master Layers in ArcGIS 9.3.1 - This video demonstrates how to take one polygon layer and advance merge it into the corresponding master later. The video shows two examples:

- Adding a single thinning block polygon to the Master Thinning Layer.

- Adding a single deduction polygon to the Master Deduction Layer.

One extension is required for this exercise: ET GeoWizards

The scenario being used is as follows: A thinning block, and a deduction have been collected using a GPS unit and imported into ArcMap. They have been cleaned and the deduction area removed from the thinning block. They now need to be deposited into their respective master layers.

ET GeoTools: Manual Merge - Using the Manual Merge Tool in ET Geo Tools with ArcGIS 9.3.1 - This video demonstrates how to use the Edit Tools toolbox to aid in removing overlap that can exist in a polygon layer. This example uses the manual advanced merge tool.:

One extension is required for this exercise: ET GeoWizards

The scenario being used is as follows: 3 thinning blocks have been collected using a GPS unit and imported into ArcMap. They need to be cleaned. Once cleaned the overlaps are exposed.

You will see how to merge the overlaps into an adjacent polygon.
